Dr. Phelps is a nationally recognized author, speaker and teacher, concentrating on Gifted Education. With over 25 years of experience as both a parent and educator in gifted education, Dr. Phelps has a strong background writing gifted curricula, teaching gifted learners at both the elementary and middle school levels, and leading teachers and other professionals in the field of gifted education. Her book “Collaboration, Co Teaching, and Coaching in Gifted Education: Sharing Strategies to Support Gifted Learners” received the 2021 Book of the Year Award from the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). Dr. Phelps currently serves as the Chair for NAGC’s Special Schools & Programs Network, where she leads administrators, educators and parents from independent schools and alternative programs in creating innovative gifted services.
