Hello Quest Academy Parents –
In compliance with Illinois’ School Safety Drill Act (PA 102-0395), Quest Academy will conduct Active Shooter drills for our students on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 and then again on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Conducting two drills will allow:
- Our faculty to discuss the drill in advance with students, and to practice the drill on
February 16, allowing for student questions - Practice of a final drill on February 23 that incorporates faculty and student
feedback and questions.
Please note the following about our planned Active Shooter drills:
- The drills will not include simulations that mimic an actual school shooting incident
or active shooter event. - The drills will be announced in advance to all Quest Academy personnel and students before the drills begin.
- Drill content will be age and developmentally appropriate.
- Students will be allowed to ask questions during the drills.
Parents may elect to exempt their child for any reason from participating in the Active
Shooter drills. Please contact your child’s teacher directly to elect the exemption.
If you elect exemption for your student, alternative safety education and instruction related
to an active threat or active shooter event will be provided to ensure they receive essential
instruction through less sensorial safety training methods.
