Quest Academy students excel in National History Day competition

Quest Academy is proud to congratulate three of our students for their outstanding acheivements at the National History Day Competition. From 2007 to the present, competing in History Fair every other year, Quest has had sixteen projects that have advanced to NHD. Quest has earned second-place, sixth-place, 10th and 11th-place finishes nationally over that span.

Alex R & Arnav C Win Illinois State Title

Alex Rechitsky and Arnav Chaphalkar were recognized as the Top Junior Project for the State of Illinois at the National History Day competition. Their dramatic performance was entitled, “The Fall of the Berlin Wall: How Gorbachev’s Leadership Led to the Crossing of a Monumental Frontier in History”.

“I could not be any prouder of these two individuals, LASS Teacher Drew Shilhanek said. “This duo easily put in over 500 hours of preparation. The improvement in this performance from the one at Quest, Regionals, and State was incredible, and that is a credit to them.”

Nishant N. Distinguishes himself and Quest Academy at NHD

Nishant Narayanan also competed at NHD with his documentary titled “Samuel Eberly Gross: Crossing Frontiers in Working-Class Home Ownership and American Suburbanization” but did not make the finals.

“I was so incredibly proud of him,” Mr. Shilhanek said. “When speaking with his dad, he systematically analyzed reasons the documentary that advanced to the finals from his group was so impressive to hear. He is mature beyond his years. What he has accomplished in his years at Quest is amazing.”
