Parent Education Night is almost here!
Now that we can gather together again, we’re proud to announce the first event in this year’s Parent Education Series where teachers and administrators share knowledge and provoke discussions about topics of interest.
The Gifted Child: Navigating the Changing Landscape of Mental Health Post COVID 19
Gifted children are likely to negotiate the world around them in different ways than their same-age peers. The recent pandemic and the rising mental health concerns of young people has changed the landscape, revealing an increasing need for teachers, parents and other caregivers to better understand and respond to the mental health concerns of children and adolescents.
Ms Kristy Arditti and Ms Amanda Davey of Quest Academy will discuss the unique experience of gifted children, how they view themselves and the world around them, identifying their need for specialized tools and support. We will discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children’s academic and social emotional development, as well as the current mental health challenges our youth face. Parents will learn tools and strategies for working with and responding to the emergent needs of our youth.
Reservations are required. There will be an opportunity for questions as time allows. Refreshments will be served.
