Welcome to the 5th annual Knights on the Run Family Walk/Run . In honor of the 5th anniversary of this beloved Quest event, we are changing from a 4K to a 5K! Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Quest will host this event virtually on September 27, 2020.

We are delighted to introduce you to this year’s Honorary 5K Ambassador, Josh Methner. Josh is a freshman at the University of Notre Dame and is a long-time friend of Quest alumni Mitchell Brown. Last fall, as a senior at Hersey High School, Josh won his second straight IHSA cross country state championship (with a 13:49.86 for the 3-mile course), and broke a 47-year-old record in the process. He was subsequently named the Daily Herald’s 2019-20 Male Athlete of the Year for the Northwest suburbs. Some of Methner’s other notable accomplishments include a national championship at the Footlocker meet in San Diego last fall and a national runner-up finish at the Nike meet in Portland. He won a state track championship in the spring of 2019 and was a favorite to defend his title this spring but was unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Josh fell in love with running in the 6th grade. This year, he is going to help our Quest students as they prepare for their mile run (lesser distances for our younger students) in their P.E. classes in September. Josh has prepared a video that will be shown to our students. In addition, Josh will be our Honorary Starter for the 2020 Knights on the Run Family 5K.

Our P.E. teachers are also partnering with The American Heart Association throughout the year to promote a life-long love of fitness and heart health. As part of this year-long event, we will be asking our students to help fundraise for our 5K by setting personal goals for completing their mile (or lesser) runs, and getting sponsors to help motivate them to achieve those goals. The runs will take place the week before the 5K. Students will win prizes if they meet their personal goals. In addition, the top Middle School and Lower School fundraisers will each win a personally autographed gift from Josh!

While we are disappointed that we can’t all be together for our annual walk/run, we hope everyone will still participate! Go to www.bidpal.net/quest5K to register for the race. Everyone who signs up before September 13 will receive a free t-shirt! Also, anyone who completes the 5K walk/run by 3:00pm on Sunday, September 27 will be awarded a race medal. Families may drive through the Quest parking lot from 3:00-5:00pm on that Sunday to pick up their race medals and take a photo next to our 5K banner.

We are actively looking for sponsors for this event! Sponsorship information is attached. If you know of any person or corporation that would like to become a sponsor, please share the attached sponsorship information with them, or provide Karen Dickerson, Director of Development, with their contact information and she will reach out to them. Family or business names/logos will appear in publicity materials and on our race t-shirt according to the appropriate sponsorship levels.

Watch for more student sponsorship and race information in the coming weeks. Gather your friends and family and enjoy a fast or leisurely run/walk on Sept. 27th (while social distancing, of course!). Make sure to register early for the 5K so you can get your free t-shirt! All are welcome!
